It was almost 1am by the time Andreas Mikkelsen and co-driver by Ola Fløene arrived back at the Atrium Hotel in Otrokovice last night, and after a short and restless sleep they were leaving again at 7am for today’s Barum Czech Rally Zlín shakedown.
It’s not surprising therefore that they only did three runs over the 2.85 mile (4.6km) stage, before confirming that the ŠKODA UK Motorsport Fabia S2000 was perfect and heading back to bed for an afternoon snooze.
In fact, they had planned to do a fourth run, but a long queue and a few specks of rain saw them turn around and head back to the duvet.
Andreas will now attend the pre-event press conference in Zlín, before an autograph session with the fans in the ŠKODA Motorsport Park and then a ceremonial stage at 5pm.
With tonight’s opening superspecial run in reverse order, Andreas and Ola will then be able to catch up on a bit more kip before they start SS1 at 22.48.
