Andreas begins season on the Mountain Rally

Reigning Intercontinental Rally Challenge Champion Andreas Mikkelsen will have an early pre-season test in his title-winning ŠKODA Fabia S2000 when he contests the Mountain Rally in Norway on Saturday 14 January.

Co-driven by Ola Fløene, Andreas will drive his 2011 Rally of Scotland and Cyprus Rally winning Fabia S2000 on the event, which is now owned by his manager, Erik Veiby.

The Mountain Rally is based in the winter ski resort of Gol, near the Golsfjellet Mountain, in the Hallingdal region of Norway, 118 miles (190kms) north-west of the capital city of Oslo. The rally features six stages over 88 miles (143kms).

Immediately after the rally, Andreas will join a group of ŠKODA UK retailers and technicians at the John Haugland Winter Rally School in Geilo, where he’ll give VIP passenger rides in the Fabia S2000.

Andreas’ defense of his IRC Drivers’ title begins on the Sata Rallye Azores (23-25 February).

Andreas: “The Mountain Rally will be a good early pre-season test and I’m really looking forward to getting back into a rally car after the Christmas break. I’ve done the event twice before and it’s usually a proper snow rally with high snow banks, although this year the winter has arrived very late in Norway. It’s not such a long rally, but more than enough to shake the cobwebs off.”
