Andreas Mikkelsen marked the 10th anniversary of Colin McRae’s victory on the Cyprus Rally by winning the prestigious award presented in his memory on each round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, the Colin McRae IRC Flat Out Trophy.

Mikkelsen’s first-place finish on the mixed-surface event and capture of the IRC title made him the unanimous choice as the winner by the judging panel consisting of Jean-Pierre Nicolas, the IRC’s Motorsport Development Manager, Gilbert Roy, the Director of Editorial and Programme Development for Eurosport Events, and Jimmy McRae, Colin’s father.

After receiving the award for the second time this season, the 22-year-old ŠKODA UK Motorsport driver said: “Colin is a big profile in rallying, he’s probably the biggest, and he’s a really big hero of mine. To get this trophy 10 years later from his victory here is very special for me. I really think the performance we have done this weekend has been very good so to be presented with this award is just the best feeling I could have.”

Nicolas, who presented the award to Mikkelsen, said: “On this rally it was not difficult to understand who would win this trophy. It was such a beautiful performance. Even on the last stage he did the best time, just like Colin would have done.”
