I’m an Italian champion! We won the Italian Gravel Trophy (TRT) title in our Skoda Fabia Super 2000 car. – Great fun, the goal was to win overall and it’s fun to do it!
We led the championship before the Rally Conca d’Oro – the last race in the TRT. After winning the first seven stages, it all seems to go to an easy victory. But it was a very dramatic ending. It all started on the second last stage. Problems with the engine, which stopped several times, made sure we had fallen to sixth place before the final stage. We didn’t know what was wrong, but changed the spark plugs and managed with 10 seconds margin the start of SS9. We delivered a fantastic time, and climbed to third place. We were able to crown ourselves as the Italian Gravel Champion 2011.
– Now I can call myself Italian champion! This was a good feeling before the final IRC round in Cyprus.
